The Art of Handcrafting Candles: A Behind-the-Scenes Look

Welcome to the eye of rose blog! For our first post, I want to share the process of making our handcrafted candles. Each candle is made with love and care.

Creative Vision

Before creating each candle, I set intention to be in flow of creating and I envision what I want to create, including the scents, colors, and overall design. This also includes deciding on the color of the vessel. This initial step is crucial as it guides the entire process and ensures that each candle aligns with my artistic vision and the essence of eye of rose.

Making the Concrete Vessel

I start with the concrete vessel in my garage. I use distilled water and cement, mixing it by hand in precise amounts and for precise times. After mixing, I pour the concrete into molds and let it cure for 3-4 days.

Sanding the Vessel

Once the vessels have cured, I use a handheld machine to sand each one. This smooths out any rough edges and gives the vessel a polished finish.

Sealing the Vessel

After sanding, I seal the vessels with a non-toxic, non-VOC sealer. This step ensures the vessels are safe, durable, and have a smooth, finished look. I wait another 2 days to let the sealer cure before moving on to the next step.

Adding the Wicks

Once the vessels are ready, I add the wicks. This step requires the most care and attention because each wick must be straight and perfectly centered. I use premium cotton wicks to ensure a clean and even burn.

Hand-Pouring the Wax

With the wicks in place, I begin hand-pouring the wax. I use a natural coconut apricot soy wax blend with a minuscule amount of FDA-approved food-grade paraffin. This blend burns cleanly and holds fragrance well. I melt and mix the wax to the right temperature before adding the fragrance oils. Then, I carefully pour the hot wax into each vessel.

Quality Control and Labeling

After the wax sets, each candle undergoes a thorough quality check. Only those that meet my high standards are labeled to reflect their scent and collection. The ones that has imperfections goes to Perfectly Imperfect Collection.

Packaging

Finally, the candles are packaged in eco-friendly materials, ready to bring light and warmth to your sacred space.

Making these candles is a labor of love. I hope this behind-the-scenes look helps you appreciate the care that goes into each one. Thank you for joining me on this journey.

Blessings,

Rusnaini
